Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
GenieChef is an AI-powered recipe service available at geniechef.app. For any privacy question write to geniechefapp@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Account: your email address and the sign-in data handled by our authentication platform. Profile: the settings stored on your account — your subscription or trial status, the date of your last recipe generation, your email-notification preference, and the technical markers we use to keep the service safe. Language and colour theme are not stored on your account; they stay in your browser. If you created your account before October 2026 it may still hold a country that was detected automatically at that time; we no longer detect or store your country. Saved content: recipes you save, your shopping list, your allergens and your filter settings stay in your browser's storage on your device and are never sent to our servers. Feedback: the message you send through the in-app form, plus the name and email you choose to type there. Abuse protection: a technical counter that records the UTC day, whether the request came from a signed-out visitor or an internal account identifier, and the type of event — no email address, no IP address, no request text.
3. How we use your email
Your email identifies your account, lets you sign in and reset a password, and lets us answer you. We may occasionally email you about new features; every such email contains an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time. We do not sell your email or share it with advertisers.
4. Recipes and saved content
Recipes you save and your shopping list are kept in your browser's storage on this device and are not sent to us, so they do not follow you to another device or another browser, and they disappear when you clear your browser data. A generated recipe is returned to your browser and is stored only when you press “Save”. You can delete a saved recipe at any time in the app. Data saved while signed out stays on this device separately from signed-in accounts, and after you sign in we ask once whether to add it to your account on this device.
5. Analytics and error logs
Analytics tools load only after you press “Accept” in the cookie card: Google Analytics and Google Ads (Google), ContentSquare and Ahrefs. They may set cookies and receive technical data about your visit — pages viewed, device type, an approximate location derived from your IP address and a random identifier. Our own analytics records the event type (for example a page view or a recipe generation), the page, your interface language, whether the device is mobile, a random session identifier that lives only for the browser session, and event details such as how many ingredients were used. It contains no email address, no full browser string, no country and no IP address. Error reports are recorded without requiring consent so that we can fix crashes: they contain the error message, a shortened technical trace (up to 2000 characters) and the page path without query string or anchor, and no email address or full browser string. Analytics events are not recorded for administrator accounts.
6. Cookies and browser storage
Necessary storage is always active: your sign-in session, your interface language, your colour theme, your cookie choice, the guest generation counter, and the recipes, shopping list, allergens and filter settings you save on this device. Optional cookies are set only after you accept: Google Analytics, Google Ads, ContentSquare and Ahrefs. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. Rejecting stops these tools from loading and removes the cookies our own domain can see; cookies placed on another company's domain cannot be removed by our site, and your browser settings let you delete them.
7. AI processing
When you ask for a recipe, the text of your request — ingredients, a dish name, allergens, filters and your interface language — is sent to Anthropic (Claude models) for processing. If those models cannot answer, the request is retried through Base44's AI service (Gemini or OpenAI models). Recipe images are generated by Base44's image service. These providers process the request in order to return an answer, and their own terms govern how they handle it.
8. External resources
Some elements are loaded from other companies' servers, which receive your IP address when the element appears: images, backgrounds and videos from Cloudinary and Base44 storage, language flags from the jsDelivr content network, and directory badges from toolfame.com, aitoolfame.com, saasfame.com and vibecodinglist.com. These are not advertising trackers, but the request itself is visible to those servers.
9. Payments
GenieChef is currently free and does not take payments. If paid plans are introduced, payments will be handled by Stripe, which processes card data directly; we would not receive or store your card details, and this policy would be updated before any payment is taken.
10. Retention and deletion
Account data is kept while your account exists. You can request deletion from the app; we then remove the account and the content stored with it, and we work to complete a request within 30 days. Analytics events and error reports are deleted automatically once they are older than 30 days; the cleanup runs once a month, so a record may be kept for up to about 60 days. Saved copies that existed on our servers before October 2026 are removed in the next cleanup step; until that step is completed they still remain on our servers. Account deletion requests are still completed within 30 days. Storage in your own browser disappears when you clear your browser data.
11. Your rights, children and changes
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data by writing to geniechefapp@gmail.com; we answer within 30 days. EU and UK users (GDPR) may also complain to a supervisory authority. California users (CCPA): we do not sell personal data. GenieChef is not intended for users under 16. If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
